Scholarly Communication Draft (do not publish)

Amherst College OA Resolution

In 2013, Amherst College adopted an OA Resolution in which Amherst faculty committed to “disseminating the fruits of its research and scholarship as widely as possible.”

Faculty granted Amherst College permission to make available their scholarly articles and to exercise copyright. Amherst faculty agreed to provide the Dean of Students with an electronic copy of their scholarly article, to be uploaded into the Octagon, Amherst’s open-access repository. Waivers are available for faculty to wish not to deposit their articles in the repository. More information, including instructions for faculty, can be found here.

Amherst College is also home to Amherst College Press, a fully open-access scholarly press, and a founding member of Lever Press, an open-access scholarly press funded by a consortium of liberal arts institutions.
