Services & Resources for Staff

As a staff member at Amherst College, you have access to all of the Library's print and online collections! You can borrow print books from other Five College libraries, too (for a year at a time—find out more about our loan periods). Using your Amherst ID and password, you can access any of the Library's databases and ebook collections.

Use the main search box, Discover, on the Library homepage to search for books at Amherst and across the Five Colleges. You can filter your results by format (book, ebook, etc.) or filter by library location.

Use the Place Request button to have material delivered to Frost for pickup.

• Have a call number? Use our guide to Find it in Frost.
• Don't know what a call number is? See our guide on Using Call Numbers.
• Looking for a book not held in the Five Colleges? Use our Request Service.

• The Five College Delivery (FCD) program delivers most materials (with some exceptions) from the other five colleges and depositories directly to the Frost Library circulation desk, usually within 2 to 3 business days.
• Please request such material through the Five Colleges library catalog. You will receive an email when the item is ready for pickup. We hold these Items at the Frost Library circulation desk for up to 10 days.

• Partners/spouses of Amherst College staff members can come to Frost Library to receive a library card. They are able to borrow print books, DVDs/media, and journals. Loan periods are the same for partners/spouses as they are for staff. Please bring a photo ID to receive your library card.
• Families can find most of the children's books in the collection on Level C in the PZ7 section. Ask at the front desk if you need help finding these!

• We welcome requests to acquire what you need for your research and personal interests. Please submit purchase requests here.
