Find "Hidden" Images
Many indexes and multidisciplinary databases will allow you to limit your search search to articles containing images, photographs, or illustrations. Look for options to select such as "search within captions" or "search by illustration type". You can also find images in these resources by using keywords such as "illustration" in your search.
A few databases that have specific search options for images include:
- Black Studies Center (25,000 BC to present) This link opens in a new windowImage results display in the "multimedia" category and are marked with a camera icon
- EEBO: Early English Books Online (1473-1700) This link opens in a new windowAdvanced search includes a "search by illustration type" option
- Eighteenth Century Collections Online (ECCO) (1701-1800) This link opens in a new windowsearch results include links to lists of illustrations
- Historical Newspapers (ProQuest) This link opens in a new windowadvanced search includes the option to limit by type of documents, including editorial cartoons
